Valentini

This yummy raspberry infused cocktail was originally created by chef David Burke to be served at Bloomingdale's in New York City, but for the occasion I am going to re-name it the "Valentini"...here's the recipe:

Ingredients: (makes 1 cocktail)
-6 raspberries
-2 oz. Stoli Razberi
-1 oz. sweet and sour mix
-1 oz. cranberry juice
-1/2 oz. cream
-sparkling white wine to finish

Directions:
Crush 3 raspberries in a cocktail shaker. Add Stoli razberi , sweet and sour mix, cranberry juice, and cream. Shake and strain into glass. Top with a splash of sparkling white wine and garnish with 3 raspberries.

The 80's is calling.....hot lips for Valentines Day!

Give the gift of "time travel" with a little tid-bit straight out of the 80's. You can find the hot lips phone at Urban Outfitters for $20. Deviate from the predictable flowers and candy and give her something that she can actually use!

What's more fun than a chocolate dipped cookie on a stick?.....I can't think of anything!! Parents.com has got the recipe and directions for these adorable v-day creations! You could bunch a few together and give as a "bouquet" or wrap them individually in small cellophane bags tied with a pretty bow to show loved ones how much you care...for a little extra somthing you could even attach a small card with a handwritten message! Happy dipping!

What's Not To Love About Ginnifer Goodwin?

Ginnifer Goodwin is a not-so-up-and-coming actress who is quickly making a name for herself by choosing to be a part of all the right projects. Some of my favorite appearances include her role as Vivian Liberto ( Johnny Cash's first wife) in Walk the Line, the quirky best friend in Win a Date With Tad Hamilton, and Margene the third wife in a polygamous family on the HBO original series Big Love. Her new movie "He's Just Not That into You" comes out this Friday, the movie is based on a book with the same title written by Greg Barrendt that explores the myths and confusions of modern-day-dating. Ginnifer Goodwin is not afraid to play a strong character, or to play a character who may seem a bit more vulnerable.....there's much more to come from this adorable actress...what's not to love?

Hot Pink and Lime Green Party!

I have recently been asked to plan a party for a girl named Naomi's 12th birthday. Planning parties for this age group is really fun because they are interested in having some more "grown-up" elements incorporated but are still young enough to appreciate all the bright and fun things that are oh so fresh and remind us all of youth! She absolutely knew what colors she wanted to use for her shindig....hot pink and lime green are kind of her signature colors so that was a natural direction to take the party in! Whenever I am beginning the planning process for any party I like to find lots of images that inspire me for that particular event.....here are some images that have inspired me for this get-together!

Mad Scientist Party Pictures!

They have arrived! Photos from the Mad Scientist party I designed! I hope that they inspire your own spooky celebration...enjoy!
I had to have a plasma ball for a mad party like this!
Test tube shots ( shown below ) were served out of a hand made holder to guests about 45 minutes into the party!
Jello syringes (below) were so yummy! These were served about 1 hour and a half into the party!
Styrofoam was used to create this " electric chair " in the party space!
The Bar!
Cocktails were served from beakers fit for any mad lab!
Orange and green skull candies fit in perfectly with the Mad Scientist theme!
I found the coolest skull punch bowl at Joann's  and I think it really added some spookiness to the event!
"Toxic Waste" cocktail with a plutonium rod (glow stick)
I set out bins for guests to get rid of their used cocktail continers!
Orange string light made even the bathroom creepy!
