Hello Holidays!

Well well well.....it's that time of year once again. It's almost time to preheat the oven for the turkey, bust out your famous pumpkin recipes, and spend time with family and friends! I have to frequently remind myself to not forget about Thanksgiving every year. Christmas is just the best! I love the gift wrapping, the lights, the musics, and all of the holiday events that allow you to slow down and reconnect with people you haven't seen all year.  This year I am roasting a pre-Thanksgiving Turkey at my house to celebrate before I celebrate with the rest of my extended family on Thanksgiving day. The menu is coming together nicely. This will be the first year I put something like this together but I am excited! I plan to find a few affordable  touches to make the table look fantastic! I would also love to make these turkey pops that I posted about last year! Get out your rolling pins and roasting pans....thanksgiving is almost here!

Recent Yard Sale Deals!

Oh yard sales, you are awesome! I spent $22 and got a lot of bang for my bucks!
Some of my treasures included a porcelain server with a lid and laddal, a retro fondue pot , two blue mason jars, and eight champagne glasses.
I got these four colorful margarita glasses for $1!
I also got three board games for just $2! Because no party girls entertaining supply is complete without some fun board games to break the ice!
I went yard saling with a friend and so I packed us a yard sale breakfast!
Here's what I packed:
-2 "yard sale sandwiches"
-two containers of chilled mandarine oranges
-iced coffee in a thermos
-and tater tots!

Peanut butter and marshmallow fluff cookie sandwiches!

These days I find myself short on spending money, so what should I do when a friends birthday comes up ? Well, I never tire of baking and cooking for loved ones. I really enjoy finding or created recipes that are suited just to their taste! For my friend Amber, I decided on peanut butter and marshamallow fluff sandwich cookies! I used the recipe on Modern Marie for "babysitter cookies" ....and they were so quick and delicious! I made them mini  and just added marshmallow fluff in beteween!
The cute final birthday package!
I fit 9 cookies into a white square box I had in my gift wrapping stash.
..and a sweet note makes the gift complete!

For The Birds Table Setting for Four

Here is a table setting I created the other night when we had some friends over for dinner and board games. The "table cloth" isn't really a table cloth at all, it's actually a bead spread from Urban Outfitters that I got for a cheap $10 about two years ago. In fact , I think that I have only ever used it as a table covering! I got the place mats from the Dollar Tree, and everything else is pretty much either from Ikea or from Target. ( Gotta love it!)
I wasn't really sure about the mix of plum in with the blue and the green, but I quite like how it turned out!
There's nothing like going over to a friends house for a run of the mill dinner only to find a little fanciness ( is that a word? It is now!) injected into the everyday hum-drum of life!
Why be plain? Insert some fun and mix it up!!

Citrus Party!

Summer is a time for hot hot sun, bbqs, and for some reason fruit! No wonder this was the inspiration for a lovely table setting! Check out these fruity ideas from the Hostess with the Mostess!
Such a simple centerpiece, and when you are done it can be dessert!
Dress up paper napkins by tying them with ribbon to match your color scheme.
Using festive colored beverages is a great idea! What a refreshing decoration!
Plain colored flower pots get a makeover when you add playful ribbon!
Anyone throwing a citrus party for the last hoorah of summer?

Napkin Folding

So, I found this wonderful book at Borders for a cheap 4 dollars!! It contains MANY napkin folds. I hadn't really done the whole cloth napkin thing before when I had guests over, but now every time someone comes over for dinner it is my time to show off!
Here are some of my favorites!
This one is called pinwheel
This one is called fire!
ice cream cone....so cute for a neopolitan soiree!
Lover's knot (wink wink)
You've got mail....the envelope fold
The diamond fold...this one wasn't as hard as it looked
It takes very little to please and amuse me. This book and my cloth napkins kept me entertained on a rainy Saturday afternoon..AND I learned something new!
